It offers a holistic approach to addressing ADHD by recognizing it as a problem in the brain&#8217;s ability to regulate itself. In a constantly stimulating world, the brain must switch between different levels of wakefulness and attention. Research has indicated that the fundamental ability to focus is intact in individuals with ADHD, but rather, the issue lies in their ability to switch between different states of attention. EEG patterns in individuals with ADHD and ADD often show decreased overall alertness and increased slow brain activity, with decreased rapid brain activity. Neurofeedback helps train the brain to reduce this slow activity, resulting in increased alertness, improved concentration, and a more calm and composed demeanor.
